Hull High School Winter Concert


Hull High School's Music Department 
proudly presents its annual 
Winter Concert on December 16th
in the Joseph C. Doniger Auditorium.



The performance is free for everyone, but we gladly accept any donations as they go toward the Band program.  Doors open at 6:45 PM and the concert begins at 7:00 PM.

The evening will feature a new ensemble never before heard at HHS, songs from this year's public performances, and traditional holiday classics that include faculty and past Marching Pirates.  You don't want to miss this performance!

Message from the Superintendent, Fire Chief and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator

Dear parents and guardians:

We are pleased to be sending packets of macaroni and cheese and pasta marinara home to all our families.  Mr. Craig Wolfe, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, has obtained these foods for your enjoyment.  They are quite delicious.  Going forward, we expect to be able to make these meals available on an ongoing basis to all families.  We will provide more information in the near future.  Enjoy!

Summer Lunch Program


Are you, or any child you know, going hungry?  Eligible children can stop by the Memorial Middle School, Monday-Friday, 11:30 to 1:00, to pick up a free lunch.  Lunches are provided by Paul Wahlburg, chef/owner of Alma Nove, and prepared by students who are training for careers in the food industry, through a grant from Youthworks.  For information about eligibility and more about this program, call Vinny Harte at Wellspring, 781/925-3211, x110.  Let's help make this a summer without hunger.

Message from the Superintendent

  
Based on the recommendation of Mr. Mike Devine, I am pleased to announce that Nicole Nosek has accepted the position of Assistant Principal of Hull High School.  Ms. Nosek earned her Bachelor’s degree from Stonehill College, her Master’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, and is currently enrolled in a C.A.G.S. program at Boston University.  Since 1994, Ms. Nosek has been a reading, language arts and English teacher at Sterling Middle School in Quincy and Quincy High School.

Based on the recommendation of Christine Cappadona, I am pleased to announce that Kyle Shaw has accepted the position of Assistant Principal of the L.M. Jacobs Elementary School. Mr. Shaw earned his Bachelor’s degree from Salve Regina University, his Master’s degree from Lesley University and he completed a Graduate Leadership Education Program at Curry College.  Mr. Shaw has been a physical education teacher at the Jacobs School since 2008.

  • JES including half-day kindergarten -        11:45 A.M.

Message from the Superintendent

Please join me in congratulating Jacobs Elementary School Assistant Principal, Christine Cappadona, who has accepted the position of Jacobs Elementary School Principal effective July 1, 2015.  Ms. Cappadona has worked at the Jacobs Elementary School since 2000 as a Grade Four Teacher, Summer School Coordinator, and most recently as the Assistant Principal.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Regis University in Colorado and a Master’s degree from Fairfield University in Connecticut.  Ms. Cappadona is looking forward to serving as Principal and continuing to work with students, staff, and families on their path of academic excellence in a kind and caring environment.

Best of Luck Principal Jean Penta


Jean Penta has announced that she will be retiring at the end of this school year after 20 dedicated years at the Jacobs Elementary School, the last 5 as principal.  

Jean has been a wonderful leader and we wish her a happy retirement, and commend her for a job well done!!!!



Digital Art at Memorial Middle School

At a recent School Committee meeting, Kate Cicalese, art teacher at Memorial Middle School, provided a brief presentation on a new digital art lesson.  In this lesson, students used their iPads to create brief stop motion animation films.  Several grade 6 students "screened" their film for the school committee.  Well done!




N.E.S.D.E.C. Academic Growth and Student Leadership in Learning Award

At the April 27, 2015 School Committee meeting Dr. Tyrell, Superintendent of Schools, presented one of two New England School Development Council (NESDEC) Academic Growth and Student Leadership in Learning Awards to Hull High School Junior, Patrick Richardson.  Due to a scheduling conflict the other award will be presented in June. 

Congratulations Patrick, keep up the good work!

Message from the Superintendent

REMINDER:
School will be in session for students in grades 1 through 12 this Friday, April 3, which is Good Friday.  There will be no kindergarten or pre-kindergarten classes.  Attendance is important as our regular instructional program will be taking place.


Dismissal times are as follows:
  Hull High School - 10:50 am
  Memorial School - 11:15 am
  Jacobs School, grades 1 through 5 - 11:45 am

Lunch will not be served.  

Because this is Good Friday, it will be treated as a religious holy day.  Therefore, there will be no examinations, tests, or major projects held.

School Committee Community Outreach Forum

There will be a Community Outreach Forum Monday, March 23, at 6:00 pm in the Exhibition Room of Hull High School prior to the 7:00 pm School Committee Meeting.

This is an opportunity to meet informally with members of the School Committee to ask questions and voice concerns.  The forum is not recorded and is intended as a relaxed atmosphere encouraging open dialogue.

Five announcements regarding bus stops, make-up days, and the last day of school:
  1. Some original bus stops and routes have already been reinstated.  The remainder of the original bus stops will be reinstated as soon as it becomes possible.  Notification of such is being made as bus stops are reinstated.
  2. Reminder - School will be in the session this Saturday, March 21 for students in grades 1 through 12.  Attendance is very important as structured learning will be taking place.  Dismissal times are as follows:
    • HHS -11:05 am
    • MMS - 11:30 am
    • JES - noon
      • There will be no pre-kindergarten or kindergarten.
      • Lunch will be served at the Memorial and Jacobs schools.

  3. Please save the dates.  School will be in session for students in grades 1 through 12 with early dismissals on Good Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 11.  There will be no lunches on Good Friday.
  4. There will be a full day of school for all students on Monday, May 18.  This had previously been scheduled as an early release day.
  5. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has granted us a one day waiver from the 180 day student-day regulation.  Therefore, the last day of school for students is now projected to be Wednesday, June 24.
Once again, thank you for your cooperation and for putting children's education first during this inconvenience.

KidsCare Summer Program

Dear Parents,

KidsCare is now accepting registration for the summer program. The program will be held at the Memorial School and will begin on Monday, July 6, 2015 and will end on Friday, August 14, 2015. The Memorial School location gives KidsCare the opportunity to visit area beaches and the playing field offers the children a number of recreational activities. Other events will be scheduled for children to participate in throughout the summer. Hours of operation will be 8AM-6PM Monday through Friday.

If you are interested in the summer program, complete the form below and return by May 4, 2015. Please note, although KidsCare is a part of the Hull Community Schools, it is self-sustaining and is not funded by the Hull Public Schools. Tuition must be paid weekly and is expected if your child is absent on the day for which they are registered. All tuition from the 2014/2015 school year must be paid in full in order for your child to attend the program. Tuition for children registered full time (5 days a week) will be $4.50 per hour. Tuition for children registered part time (under 5 days) will be $5.00 per hour. If you have any questions, please call 781-925-8012.

Integrated Preschool Open House for Parents and Children

The Integrated Preschool will have an Open House for parents and children on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 10 a.m. in the preschool room of the Jacobs Elementary School.

Applications are being accepted for the 2015-2016 school year and will be available for people at the Open House.
